What TikTok Song Finder collects, why we collect it, who processes it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 2026-10-20

Summary

  • We collect only what we need to identify a song, run your account and take payment.
  • We do not store the audio or video of the TikTok you submit.
  • We do not see or store your card number. Payments are handled by our payment processor.
  • We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
  • You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data at any time. See “Your rights” below.

Who we are

TikTok Song Finder (“we”, “us”) is an independent tool that identifies the song used in a public TikTok video. It is not affiliated with TikTok or ByteDance. For anything in this policy, write to support@tiktoksongfinder.org.

What this tool does

You paste the link to a public TikTok video. Our servers fetch the audio of that video for a few seconds, send it to a music-recognition service, and show you the title and artist of the match. This policy explains the data involved in that process and in selling you credits.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details. Your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We never receive your Google password.
  • Messages to us. The content of any email you send to support, including attachments you choose to include.

Information created when you use the service

  • Links and results. The TikTok link you submit and the song we identified for it. We keep the result for each video (video ID → song) so repeat lookups are faster and cheaper for everyone. This cache does not contain audio.
  • Credit activity. Your credit balance and a ledger of credits added, spent or refunded, with the date of each entry.
  • Purchases. Order number, amount, currency, number of credits and payment status. Card or wallet details are collected and stored by our payment processor, not by us.
  • Technical data. IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and basic request logs. We use this for security, rate limiting, abuse prevention and fixing errors.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your theme. The service doesn't work without them.
  • Analytics (privacy-focused, cookieless where possible) are used only if enabled on this site. Where consent is required, we ask first through the cookie banner and you can decline.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

What we do not keep

We do not store the audio or video of any TikTok you submit. Audio is held in memory only for the few seconds needed to identify the song and is then discarded. We do not keep the media file, a transcript, or a fingerprint of it.

Who processes your data

We share data only with providers that help us run the service, under terms that limit their use of it to that purpose:

  • Music-recognition service — receives the short audio sample to return a song match.
  • Audio-retrieval service — fetches the audio of the public TikTok video you submit.
  • Payment processor (Stripe) — takes payment, issues receipts and processes refunds. Its handling of your payment details is covered by its own privacy policy.
  • Google — only if you choose Sign in with Google.
  • Email delivery service — sends sign-in and credit-restore links.
  • Hosting and database providers — run the site and store account and credit data.
  • Analytics provider — only if analytics is enabled and you have not declined it.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users or others. If the business is ever sold or merged, your data may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the provider's certification under an adequacy framework.

How long we keep data

  • Audio and video of submitted TikToks: Not stored.
  • Identified song per video (cache): Kept to speed up repeat lookups; contains no personal data.
  • Account details and credit ledger: While your account is open.
  • Order and payment records: As long as tax and accounting law requires (typically several years).
  • Server and security logs: Short-term, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Support emails: Up to 2 years after the last message.

When you delete your account we remove or anonymise your personal data, except records we must keep by law.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), limit staff access to personal data, verify payment notifications from our processor, and store only the minimum we need. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a sign-in method you trust and tell us right away if you suspect misuse of your account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK, Switzerland or California), you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
  • correct data that is wrong;
  • delete your data (“right to be forgotten”);
  • restrict or object to some processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent;
  • complain to your local data-protection authority.

To use any of these, email support@tiktoksongfinder.org from the address on your account. We may need to verify it's you, and we aim to reply within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

California. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party links

Results link to music services such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music, and you submit links from TikTok. Those services have their own privacy practices that we don't control.

Changes to this policy

When we make a material change we update the date above and announce it on this site. Using the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
